I hate blog posts about how stale the blog has become….but this is sort of going to be like that.

It’s been two and a half weeks since we’ve posted any updates here, which is longer than we’d like.  However, the reason for this is not because we’re slacking off, it’s because we’ve been slammed with getting our product ready for its public debut.  The past month has been a lot of this…..sitting in the home office at 12:30am.

I’m really not one to boast all that much, tell tall tales, etc.  My programmer’s ego isn’t all that huge…sure it’s there, but not out of control or anything…and I can acknowledge when it rears its head.  But honestly, I am very confident when I say that the application we’ve built is really really really slick.

Over the weekend I began reworking our client application (that’s the app you install on your machine to talk to the Data Bridge and  thermocouple).  Ryan gave the user interface some attention last month, handing off some nice mockups on a new user interaction model.  I was hesitant to make any significant changes this late in the game, but really, it was well worth it.  My first version of that program was a best guess.  Now, after feedback from our users and the changes I just finished up tonight, it’s definitely ready for prime-time and has some features which should really help out and make it easier to work with.

On the web application front, we’ve also been making some fantastic progress.  Again, the user experience model which Ryan came up with early last month is going the make the job of coffee roasters much easier as they look through their roasting history.  It’s super easy to find what you’re looking for and then compare everything in one fell swoop.  On top of that, once you’re comparing multiple roasts on our “compare” page, you can also add cupping notes for all them with click of a button.

Ted has been hard at work putting all our marketing material together in time for the show.  It’s amazing how many little things there are to take care of, and he’s been doing a great job of making sure we look and sound professional once we’re there.

I’m really tempted to put a screen shot of our new user interfaces up, but it’ll have to wait just a little while longer.  Whether you’re at the show or not, you’ll be able to see our new site and take a tour of it once we roll out, shortly before the conference.

Exciting times!

Hello!

We won’t be able to attend the SCAA conf this year because it happens to coincide with launch date of our roaster. We would love (and be honored!) to use roast log as it evolves. If y’all are looking for more roasters, let us know!

Best,
Ben

PS Your logo rocks.
